Overview
The Yamaha F50 is a 50-horsepower four-stroke powered by a 996 cc (1.0 L) inline-four with SOHC valvetrain and electronic fuel injection, sharing its block with the F60. This F50HEDL variant is a 20-inch long-shaft with electric start and remote controls (or a deluxe trolling tiller); in place of power trim it uses a gas-assisted hydraulic tilt that raises and lowers the engine smoothly. The four-cylinder design runs quietly and economically to a 5,000-6,000 rpm range through a 1.85:1 gearcase, with a 16-amp alternator, and the package weighs about 247 lb. Yamaha's mid-range four-strokes are prized for durability, corrosion protection and long service life. It is ideal for pontoons, aluminum fishing boats and small runabouts.
