Overview

The Tohatsu MFS50A is a 50-horsepower four-stroke built around a 998 cc in-line three-cylinder EFI powerhead, one of the largest displacements in the 50-horse class for strong low-end torque and easy planing. Electronic fuel injection with dual intake valves delivers dependable cold starts, smooth idle and good fuel economy, and an adjustable trolling-speed feature lets you set idle from roughly 650 to 950 rpm for slow-speed fishing. It runs a 5000-6000 rpm full-throttle range on a 2.07:1 gear ratio, starts electrically, and is set up as a 20-inch long shaft with power trim and tilt and remote controls. At roughly 212 lb it is a lightweight, capable choice for aluminum fishing boats, jon boats, pontoons and small runabouts. A 22-amp alternator keeps batteries and electronics charged. Tohatsu builds many of the industry's mid-range powerheads, so parts and service support are widely available. Inspected and sold with a clean bill of sale; freight-delivered.
