Overview

The Tohatsu BFT250DXDA is a 250-horsepower V6 four-stroke outboard on Tohatsu's 3,583 cc (3.6L) 60-degree SOHC 24-valve powerhead, shared with the Honda BF250. Programmed multi-point electronic fuel injection and variable valve timing deliver crisp throttle response and a full-throttle range of 5,300-6,300 rpm through a 2.00:1 gear ratio. This standard-rotation model rides on a 25-inch ('X') shaft and adds Drive-By-Wire (DBW) digital throttle and shift for smooth, precise single- or multi-engine control. It starts electrically, features power trim and tilt, and its 90-amp alternator supports demanding modern electronics. Water-cooled and running on regular 87-octane fuel (91 recommended), it weighs about 615 pounds dry. Powerful and refined, it suits offshore center-consoles, large bay boats and repower projects.
