Overview

This Mercury 40 HP EFI FourStroke (model 40ELPT) is powered by a 995 cc in-line four-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection, the largest-displacement four-cylinder option in the 40-horse class for exceptionally smooth, quiet running. Electronic fuel injection provides reliable cold starting, a steady idle and good fuel economy, and the four-cylinder layout minimizes vibration compared with three-cylinder competitors. It runs a 5500-6000 rpm full-throttle range, starts electrically, and is rigged as a 20-inch long shaft with power trim and tilt and remote controls (the ELPT designation: Electric start, Long shaft, Power Trim). An 18-amp alternator keeps batteries and electronics charged. Its refinement and torque make it a great fit for aluminum fishing boats, pontoons, jon boats and small runabouts. Backed by Mercury's parts and service network, it is an easy-to-own mid-range motor. Inspected and sold with a clean bill of sale; freight-delivered.
