Overview

This pre-owned Evinrude 55 HP (model E55MJRL) is built on an inline two-cylinder, 863 cc (52.7 cu in) direct-injection two-stroke powerhead and comes from Evinrude's rugged MFE/commercial lineage, which shares the injectors, fuel system, and onboard engine-management computer of the E-TEC platform. That government-derived technology gives it a power stroke every revolution for strong torque and reliable performance in demanding use, operating in the 5500-6000 rpm range. This unit is set up as a long-shaft (20 in) motor with electric start and power trim and tilt. Like the E-TEC family it avoids oil changes, break-in, and scheduled dealer maintenance for three years, and it self-mixes oil from an onboard reservoir. At roughly 240 lb it is a durable, workmanlike choice for aluminum fishing boats, utility and work skiffs, and pontoons where dependability matters. It runs on regular unleaded.
