This pre-owned Evinrude E-TEC 40 HP (model E40DPGL) pairs a compact inline two-cylinder, 863 cc (52.7 cu in) direct-injection two-stroke powerhead with remote binnacle controls, electric start, and power trim and tilt on a long (20 in) shaft. Evinrude's E-TEC direct injection delivers a power stroke every revolution, giving quick hole-shot and crisp acceleration across a 5500-6000 rpm operating range. Because there is no crankcase oil to change and no dealer-scheduled maintenance for three years, ownership costs stay low, and the stratified low-RPM mode keeps idling clean and quiet. The engine weighs roughly 240 lb, so it rigs easily on aluminum boats, fiberglass runabouts, jon boats, and pontoons rated for 40 horsepower.
