Overview

This pre-owned Evinrude E-TEC 40 HP (model E40DGTL) is a direct-injection two-stroke outboard built on an inline two-cylinder, 863 cc (52.7 cu in) powerhead. Unlike a conventional four-stroke, the E-TEC fires a power stroke on every revolution for instant throttle response and strong low-end torque, while still meeting clean three-star emissions and requiring no scheduled dealer maintenance for the first three years. This unit is set up as a long-shaft (20 in) tiller-steer motor with electric start and power trim and tilt, turning a 5500-6000 rpm full-throttle range. The E-TEC design needs no oil changes and no break-in, and its low-RPM combustion mode keeps trolling quiet and virtually smoke-free. At roughly 240 lb it is light for its horsepower, making it a versatile fit for aluminum fishing boats, jon boats, tiller skiffs, and small pontoons. The combination of tiller control and mid-range punch makes it equally suited as a primary motor or a heavy kicker. Inspected and sold with a clean bill of sale; freight-delivered.
